2011 BMW Z4 sDrive35isWhen typical car nuts see that "M" insignia on the trunk lid of a BMW, they almost unconsciously say, "Sweet!" Why? Because they know the M designation means that Bimmer is a posh and powerful beast, tweaked at the factory to a higher level of performance than the standard assembly line fare. But M isn't the only letter BMW uses to symbolize performance. It also uses "S."

The S is the brand's performance level set between regular trims and those specifically modified by M GmbH, the creator of the brand's most powerful, speed-hungry machines. The line was born in the 1980s when the E21 320is hit world markets, and ever since it has served as a happy medium for buyers wanting a tad more speed for a smaller price premium. While BMW hasn't used the S designation often, it is adding an S version to the Z4 lineup for 2011, raising the little roadster's performance quotient to a level that BMW fans have wanted for years.

After a frosty couple of years, the luxury car market is beginning to heat up once again. In fact, it is bouncing back faster than any other automobile category, as consumers slowly claw their way out of one of the darkest economic times in recent history. Even so, financial analysts say those living in the posh lane aren't spending frivolously. Like the vast majority of consumers these days, luxury car buyers are being more cautious, looking to wring maximum value from every dollar spent. Nowhere is that more apparent than in our list of the 10 most-researched luxury vehicles on MSN Autos. It's important to note that this list includes only cars — luxury utility vehicles are in a separate category.

Audi To Expand Sales Of A1, USA Must Wait For Second GenerationAudi’s diminutive A1 compact hatchback is proving to be such a hot product that the company has decided to sell the car “at short notice” in markets such as Asia.

While Audi wants to focus on European markets first, the car will eventually be sold in Asia, with Audi deciding on a strategy for the Chinese market. “Many of the Asian markets are now showing a trend toward smaller vehicles,” said Peter Schwarzenbauer, Audi’s head of sales. “For that reason, it’s right to sell the A1 also in those regions.”
Honda CR-Z to Compete in SuperGT GT300 Class? An unknown builder is currently fabricating up a mid-engine Honda CR-Z, sporting a completely custom widebody and carbon fiber doors. While it may just be a concept car for the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon, some rumors are hinting that this Honda CR-Z might be being built for the Japanese SuperGT racing series, competing in the GT300 class. Given how popular the CR-Z has already become in Japan, this would be a pretty cool move by Honda.

Employee strike have temporarily stopped BMW South Africa cars production. South African autoworkers are seeking wage increases more than triple the inflation rate.

The powerful National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa, which represents 31,000 autoworkers, said it had rejected employers’ offer of a 7 percent increase in the first year and a raise equal to consumer price inflation in the remaining two years.

The union is demanding a 15 percent wage increase, well above inflation, which was at 4.2 percent in July...
With so many different companies providing rental cars these days it can prove difficult in deciding which of them to use. In most cases you have the option of going for small local companies or for the much bigger well known ones.

Certainly most people tend to opt for renting a car through companies such as Avis or Budget as they feel that they can rely on them more. In most cases the cars with such companies will normally have undergone many rigorous checks to ensure that they are safe and comfortable to drive. Also you will find that in the majority of cases they provide free cover should the vehicle at any time breakdown during your use of it.
