First victory for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team since the partnership began: Ralf Schumacher wins the San Marino GP in Imola, his first Grand Prix win in the seventieth F1 race of the German driver's career. The last victory for WilliamsF1 was three years and seven months ago (28.09.1997, Jacques Villeneuve, Nürburgring) and this is the marque's 104th Grand Prix success. And the last victory for BMW in F1 was almost 14 and a half years ago, when Gerhard Berger (Benetton BMW) won the Mexican Grand Prix (12.10.1986).

The all-new small BMW model series will be called 1 Series. Moreover, a successor to the big 6 Series Coupe will enter the market at some time within the next few years. Prof. Joachim Milberg, CEO of BMW AG, announced these two decisions on the enlargement of the model range on the evening before the start of the Geneva Motor Show.

The new BMW model series, which is being designed according to schedule, will occupy a position between the BMW 3 Series and the MINI and will introduce all BMW virtues into the upper end of the lower midrange segment. The Boston Chapter BMW Car Club of America First Quarter General Meeting was held on Wednesday, February 21. Attendance at the meeting was strong, filling up the entire showroom at Foreign Motors West in Natick.
