Certainly, it is possible to reproach experts of the technical center "Science - Auto" with excessive self-confidence. But volume of the done work and, that is important, the approach to this project are more than serious arguments to that the automobile has been named M7. But so obliging name was not unique and the primary goal of the project. It was necessary to create the automobile of a representation class possessing sports habits and opportunities. For a basis has been taken BMW E38 740 1999 of release with engine M62TU. At once it has been solved, that it is impossible to be limited to only one operational development of the motor and external aerodynamic tuning. Not M7, and simply next automobile under tuning otherwise will turn out. Both the engine, and a box of transfers, and a reducer of the back bridge, both a brake, and a suspension bracket, i.e. practically full processing of all machine. Everything, that is obsolete both morally, and physically, could not provide modern requirements to the automobile. So, the engine. Initially V-shaped "eight" had volume 4,4 l. Its working volume has been increased by increase in cylinders, replacement of a cranked shaft and rods, change of a course of the piston up to 5 litres. It was possible to lift also a degree of compression up to 11. The head of the E38 block also has been modified. Channels are polished. Camshafts with the expanded phases of distribution of gas are established, and for the even greater feedback other system VANOS has been established, allowing to expand a range of adjustments of phases. The modified valves with springs from the sports motor have completed a picture. It is necessary to note, that all works on operational development of the motor were carefully counted. All was done under the slogan « Hundred seven times measure, recheck and only then cut off ». As a result of three months of laborious work the product which can be counted actually new engine rightfully has turned out. To it and the code have appropriated - M62B50. And it not seems too self-confident any more. As at operational development of the motor serial details BMW were used. Any amateur performance. Exact calculation, the analysis, selection of parameters and the minimal operational development from a principle "do not do much harm". Probably, it is not so effective, as manufacturing of own spare parts for tuning, but the guarantee of such works is similar factory.

Tuning BMW M7 (E38)

New opportunities of the E38 motor were necessary to develop and for not strangling exhaust system. Mufflers Supersprint (4 pipes on 90 mm in diameter) have allowed not only to optimize work of exhaust system, but also have given to the engine in a sports way low sounding. Operational development of a box of transfers also was poured out in creation of essentially new transmission. Studying of box ZF-5HP24 has allowed to find necessary reserves for increase of its opportunities. Using the case and having left a part of "native" details, the box has been collected anew, as the designer. As transmissions for concern BMW, as well as for many other motor-car manufacturers, are made by the largest world manufacturer of autoaccessories - company ZF, it was possible to pick up necessary elements of a box of transfers without significant alterations. So in a new box the details used as in automobiles BMW, and, for example, in Volkswagen Phaeton with 6-liter engine W12 have appeared. Except for friction clutches, managing solenoids have been replaced, adjustments of the hydraulic block and a control system of a box are changed. E38 hydrotransformer has been picked up not simply under transfer of the greater twisting moment, and according to traction characteristics of the new engine. For this purpose the motor chased at the stand, and results of its tests and adjustments have underlain the further works on designing and operational development of transmission and running. In a result it has turned out boxes of transfers to which began to transfer under force the twisting moment more than in 520 Nanometers. The turn of a reducer of the back bridge further has come. Taking into account, that the engine developed twisting moment without sheer failures practically up to 6500 rev/min, has been solved to establish a reducer with the big transfer number (3,15 instead of 2,93). It has given an additional prize in dynamics of dispersal of the automobile. Besides the reducer with an automatic interlock of differential from M5 (E39) has been put. It has demanded to change a design of a beam of the back bridge for fastening a new reducer and to modernize a shaft (installation of other flange).

Tuning BMW E38

After end of all works on E38 "iron" operational development about two months completion, adjustment and the coordination of control systems with the engine and have borrowed boxes of transfers. Programs have been altered practically completely. On results of all done works extremely strange result was showed. At all dynamics (about 6 seconds up to hundred) and (380 h.p. on 5800-6000 rev/min and 520 Nanometers on 3500-4000 rev/min) the automobile has shown power phenomenal profitability. At a choice of brakes sports AP-Racing have preferred more budgetary, but not less serious brake system from reserved BMW 750. Final stroke by the image of " a sports limousine » became stylish wheels from Breyton.

E38 M7
