BMW E38 - the new leader of the company which have come in the stead E32 in 1994. The design of the new seven was in many respects defined by the previous model, but E38 became even more comfortable. Exclusive models 740iL and 750iL have extended on 140 mm. Base, and version 750 XLA on 390mm. Armour versions of the seven Also were issued. In the end of 1998 the model has undergone to small restyling.


In hardware E38 has trodden far in before. Especially it concerns electronic systems. For the first time such systems as have been introduced: an adaptive automatic gear box (system AGS); an electronic engine management system (ELM); system of dynamic stabilisation of movement (DSC); system of regulation of position of a body (NR); system of electronic control by ruggedness of absorbers (EDC); system of automatic stabilisation of a body (ASC).


In 2001 E38 has replaced model of new generation E65/E66.
