Tuning the E36 couldn't be easier, there are literally thousands of performance parts available from all the major performance part manufacturers ensuring it won't be difficult to find the part your looking for. Combine this with the fact that you can interchange the E36 parts with loads of other BMW models and the road to a road and track weapon couldn't be easier.
Used BMW 3 series (e36) tuning - Suspension
"The Ultimate Driving Machine" was not simply a slogan for the E36 BMW, the chassis is perfectly balanced and were, as now, the leaders in their class. 2 suspension options were available as standard from the factory, for the saloon you had the standard suspension or the M-Tec suspension and for the Coupe, the M-Tec suspension came as standard. The coupe was also available with the AVUS package which featured higher quality Bilstein units and eccentric front bushes for more negative camber.
BMW 3rd series debuted in 1988. Its design has caused wide polemic. Opponents asserted that the car drops out of a general series and in general too for BMW. Among those who has interceded for BMW 3, there was Pol Marriage. By that moment it any more did not work on BMW, but it has not prevented it to tell: "3rd series - the best that have made on BMW after my leaving".
In Moscow the first BMW 3 has appeared almost right after a debut. It was the black car with glasses and flashing on a rear screen regiment. Looked BMW terribly and elegantly, was always pure and, and went with a speed not less than 120 km/h. Sooner or later any car appears on service. It not always means that it is sick. The good owner in service calls in and for the sake of preventive maintenance. But, as practice of operation BMW of 3rd series in our country has shown, to call in in service it makes sense only directly ahead of repair. You are surprised and ask, and what else there are variants?
Seduction, BMW tells us, is the name of the game in the modern roadster market. Demographic evidence and customer confessions suggest that hardly anyone actually needs a wind-in-the-hair car with a small trunk and just two seats, so people have a lot of time to stroke their chins, consult the position of the planets and think about the purchase. We aren't talking corn harvesters or fire trucks here. Buyers have to fall in love.
"The roadster market has always been volatile," BMW's Klaus Borgman told us at the launch of the new Z4 near Alicante, Spain. "Roadsters are an emotional purchase," he said, "so sales depend on what's offered at the time. It's the concept that decides."
And this year BMW has decided to broaden the concept by restyling the Z4 and offering a little more space and luxury, along with an all-season retractable hardtop thereby replacing the previous Z4 Coupe and Roadster with a single, do-everything model.
There have been five generations of the 7 Series BMW:
* BMW E23 (19771986) * BMW E32 (19871994) * BMW E38 (19942001) * BMW E65/E66 (20022008) * BMW F01 (2009-present)
The E38 BMW 7 series sedan was introduced to the US market with the 1995 model year last year of production was 2001. The E38 was considered to be the best seven series produced by BMW thanks to its flawless design and amazing character, this vehicle was truly a grown up luxury sports sedan with its driver oriented interior and amazing handling mixed with perfect luxury.
BMW offered two versions the i - short wheel base and the 6 longer il versions. The il is easily recognizable of its long passenger window. For the US market two engine variants were offered the 4.4 liter V8 in the 740i and 740il and the 5.4 V12 engine in the 750il, the V12 was never offered to US customers with the short wheel base version.
The BMW M50 is an I6 piston motor. It was introduced in 1989 to change M20 one and was replaced by the M52 motor in 1994. Displacement ranges from 2.0 L to 3.0 L. It is a DOHC 24-valve engine. A Technical Update or M50TU version from 1992 introduced VANOS variable valve timing.
The M50 was related to the M20 with the same 91 mm cylinder spacing, bore, and stroke at 2.0 L and 2.5 L.
As the E30 3 Series established itself as a full line including compact coupes, sedans and convertibles. The 3 Series quickly became the envy of the the industry with likes of the Cadillac Cimarron and Audio 4000 Quattro were nothing more than cheap imitations. BMW was now faced with replacing a perfect specimen, anything short of that would hail big time sales danger.
The E36 brethren to the E30 was a jump forward in body styling with different proportions and styling breaking out of the details established by the 2002, this was an all new machine.
Z3 was the first modern BMW roadster, as well as the first new BMW car assembled in the United States. BMW Z3 was introduced as a 1996 model year vehicle, shortly after being featured in the James Bond movie, GoldenEye. There were a few variants of the car before its production run ended in 2002, including a coupé version for 1999. It was manufactured and assembled in Spartanburg, South Carolina. BMW Z3 was replaced by the BMW Z4 introduced in late 2002 at the Paris Auto Show.
BMW Z3 was developed from the E36 platform of the BMW 3 Series. The resulting platform is sometimes referred to as the E36/7(roadster) or E36/8(coupé). The rear semi-trailing arm suspension from the E30 was used rather than the more sophisticated multilink suspension from the E36. At first, only the 1.9 L M44B19 straight-4 engine was offered, but its 138 hp (103 kW) was not up to buyers' expectations. Interior appointments too were not up to the standard of other BMW models, and the plastic rear window looked poor compared to the glass unit found on the much less expensive 1999 Mazda MX5.
